Do you know about the Jack Creek Preserve? Tucked into the forests, meadows, and mountains between Big Sky and Ennis, the Jack Creek Preserve is a 4,500-acre protected preserve that is dedicated to education, research, and conservation. The Jack Creek Preserve borders both public and private lands. Jon and Dottie Fossel established the Preserve when they donated the land as a gift to the SW Montana community. Today, the property is managed by the Jack Creek Preserve Foundation. What makes the Jack Creek Preserve so unique is that it borders both the Spanish Peaks Unit and the Taylor Hilgard Unit of the Lee Metcalf Wilderness in the Gallatin National Forest. In this prime position, the JCP serves as an uninterrupted wildlife corridor for the greater Madison Range. All sorts of wildlife such as elk, deer, grizzly bear, wolves, mountain lions, moose, and other creatures frequently travel through the area.
